At TLC Literary Adventures we want you to enjoy a writing and arts experience like no other.
Our holiday at Casa Ana in May 2010 was sold out and went beautifully. As a result we are now programming two weeks, back-to-back to run between March 26th and April 2nd 2011. You can book for one or either of the weeks, or both. If you wish to stay with us for the full two weeks, do book early to avoid disappointment.
March 26th – April 1st
The first of our two weeks at Casa Ana will be led by Rebecca Abrams who joined us last year, and was a resounding success. A focussed, impressive teacher and first-class writer, Rebecca is looking forward to working in Spain again. Visiting speakers in the first week will be Chris Stewart, best-selling author of Driving over Lemons and his Granada radio co-host, travel writer and Andalucian expert Michael Jacobs. Both writers live in Spain. The Literary Consultancy’s Director, Rebecca Swift, will be present throughout.
For full biogs see Meet the Team.
The programme is designed for a maximum of twelve people, and aimed to satisfy all writers working with prose in the genres of fiction, memoir and general non-fiction. Published writers, those with a medium amount of experience, and committed beginners are all welcome. We are used to working with people at every level. We hope all attendees will find writing within our supportive environment stimulating and inspiring.
The morning workshops will offer a range of exercises in order to generate ideas, or to help focus the mind. Specific areas of the writing craft (such as dialogue, narrative voice, sense of place) will be addressed. The holiday is structured to offer attendees time and space to write alone, though writers will also have plenty of opportunity to discuss their projects with tutors on an individual basis.
Afternoon sessions will offer an informal chance to bring up questions that might have come up during the day, or simply to share creative insights. Readings by visiting guest writers are aimed to inspire.
Participants can share their work by reading aloud if they wish. Do also feel free to bring with you cherished work by other writers which you may want to share. We will also screen a film drawing on the local culture and literary tradition.
Although this is a week dedicated to prose, the tutors also love poetry and enjoy an open discussion of creative ideas. We hope to create an atmosphere of celebration and sharing of creative work.
